Buzzy is a veteran industrial market professional, a Nashville native, and, true to his Music City roots, a musician who has toured with well-known bands. Of course, our industrial guys don’t buy anything off the shelf, so they crafted this guitar to show our appreciation for over 35 years of service. Happy retirement, Buzzy! You'll be missed.

This month, the U.S. announced the National Suicid This month, the U.S. announced the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, can be more easily reached by calling or texting 988, or chatting on 988lifeline.org. 988 serves as a universal entry point so that no matter where you live in the U.S., you can easily access 24/7 emotional support.

This is especially important for our industry. Construction workers specifically are more prone to suicide and drug and alcohol abuse. Construction has the highest suicide rate of all industries – 53.2 suicides per 100,000 workers. In terms of usual hazards faced by construction workers, suicide would not only be at the top of OSHA’s Fatal Four Hazards list, but it would also be the cause of more fatalities than the fatal four hazards combined.

Why? 89% of construction workers are men, and, generally, men underreport mental health issues and are therefore less likely to receive appropriate treatment. If you are struggling with your mental health, please consider taking advantage of this new resource.

We’ve got another great safety catch to report! We’ve got another great safety catch to report! On a recent hospital job, an electrical contractor was attempting to tie a convenience receptacle (basically, the outlets you see in the wall) into an emergency power circuit because of its proximity. Nabholz Assistant Superintendent Luke Reves instructed the contractor to connect to a normal power circuit per the construction documents. Luke took the time to explain the different types of electrical service in the hospital to the subcontractor, and why it was a safety issue to have anything other than specified equipment hooked to emergency power.

Billy Hambrick (left) also got a little something for being the one to nominate Luke!
