When Berry Global of Hot Springs, Arkansas had equipment arriving but no method of servicing it, they called on the Nabholz industrial team. The project included removing three existing Battenfeld presses to make room to install two larger Krauss Maffei injection mold presses, each weighing 73,000 lbs. The acquired presses run product molds of a size and weight not serviceable by the existing monorail hoist system in the area.
While the client was still working to source a hoisting solution to service the equipment, Nabholz utilized 40/60 and 60/80 Versa Lifts to install the presses. It was clear our team of riggers would have to build the crane system over the top of the equipment while the machinery below was in production.
A 7.5-ton bridge crane in the customer’s facility in Jackson, Tennessee had potential to be modified to service mold exchanges in Hot Springs. Nabholz was contracted to perform a feasibility study and offered solutions for engineering, foundation design, crane modifications, and eventual cost of construction to assemble the project in place.
Once arriving on site, our team of riggers, millwrights, and craftsmen unloaded all the machinery and set and assembled it to position based on the production layout provided by the client. Following the setting, our millwrights precisely leveled and aligned the equipment per the manufacturer’s specifications. All construction and equipment installation took place in a full production environment at an FDA regulated facility.
