A Career in Safety

November 3rd, 2026 - By

Will Leach, a project safety and risk coordinator for Nabholz at our Arkansas Children’s construction projects, began his career in construction as a high schooler working on a framing crew the during summers. He later worked as a cabinet builder when he was in college. After graduating from the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in geography, he joined the Nabholz millwork shop. Leach later became the project safety and risk coordinator for our projects at Arkansas Children’s.

Experiences at the Mill Shop

“Something the mill shop taught me that I still use today is everyone has to work together on a job site,” Leach shared. “We have to coordinate a lot. Moving big countertops, nurses’ stations, that sort of thing. We are all here trying to accomplish the same goals: get this job done on time and on budget.”

Leach leads a daily safety orientation on site with all Nabholz team members and trade partners. He also does site walks every day to check for any potential safety hazards and ensure all Nabholz team members and trade partners are wearing proper PPE.

Infection control is a priority for hospital construction, and Leach is constantly checking that all negative-air systems, adhesive floor mats, and dust barriers are secured and functioning properly.

“A common misconception about safety is ‘the safety guy is out to get you.’ That’s not the case. They want you to go home safe every day.”

At Nabholz, safety is our top priority. Construction is an industry built on teamwork. We look out for one another on the job site, speak up when we see a safety concern, and work together to make sure everyone gets home safely.
