Rebekah Cimino's Career in Construction

Rebekah Cimino, a preconstruction manager for Nabholz’s Lenexa team, began her career in construction at a young age. She has always known she wanted to be a “business lady,” and at age 13 she began working in a high rise in Tulsa for an architect.

“I got to paint their little models of trees, people, and cars,” Cimino said. “I just thought that was the coolest thing to see all those professionals be creative and making these incredible buildings. That really inspired me to be in construction.”

Now, as a preconstruction manager at Nabholz, Cimino works to create the preliminary master schedule to outline the critical paths from the project design to construction. This planning process is crucial to identify risks so that the construction team can move forward with the project without scheduling delays or budget issues.

“It’s about people, relationships, and problem solving. The numbers are important but so much of it is collaborating to come up with creative solutions to meet the needs of that particular client and project.”

Cimino began her Nabholz journey as an intern after she had returned to school for a degree in construction management. After learning the ropes, she joined Nabholz full-time.

Rebekah is also known as a boomerang employee: someone who leaves an organization and later returns. This gives the employee the opportunity to gain new experiences, fresh perspectives, and a deeper appreciation for the company they once called home.  Cimino worked with Nabholz for several years before pursuing another opportunity. Cimino returned to Nabholz recently.

“I already knew that I really valued the culture here at Nabholz and have tremendous respect for the leadership and what we do,” Cimino said. “So, when the opportunity presented itself for me to come back to the preconstruction team here, it was a no brainer for me.”

Returning allowed Cimino to combine everything she had learned with the relationships, culture, and sense of purpose she already knew at Nabholz.

“Construction is a team sport,” said Cimino.
