Nabholz joined with the Department of Labor and businesses across the country to celebrate the second annual National Apprenticeship Week. Apprenticeships help both workers and businesses advance. That’s why we’ve had an in-house carpentry apprenticeship program since 1973. This program is part of Nabholz University, a formal in-house construction training program approved by the United States Department of Labor. Since its establishment, the program has produced more than 160 journeyman carpenters, and many of those carpenters have since become superintendents, project managers, and upper management.

Nabholz also employs apprentices from other programs across the country, such as Preconstruction Manager Preston Moore. Preston, who works in our Kansas office, graduated in 2005 from the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Electrical Apprenticeship Program. Preston was drawn to the electrical program because he already had a basic concept of electrical theory and was working for an electrical contractor installing data systems. Preston decided to enter ABC’s Electrical Apprenticeship Program to build on his electrical knowledge and to become a more well-rounded employee with greater earning potential. Through the program, Preston obtained consistent raises, prepared for the Journeyman License test, and eventually acquired his Master Electrical License through verification of hours.
