UAMS Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital

UAMS hired Nabholz to construct the Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital, a new ground-up facility for orthopaedic and spine patients. The $72 million project is 155,870 square feet and was completed in 23 months. The hospital is a stand-alone addition to the UAMS campus, built adjacent to the main hospital.

The project utilized the fast-track construction delivery method, which required strategic planning and coordination between our team, the design team, and the client. This strategy requires construction to begin prior to design completion, in an attempt to accelerate the project.

Throughout the project, our teams worked closely to coordinate material procurement, budget tracking, and the release of design packages, ensuring the construction phases proceeded smoothly and efficiently. This allowed Nabholz to maintain a project schedule to meet milestones and expectations critical to completing the project on time. Nabholz developed a detailed project schedule and held weekly meetings with subcontractors to establish these milestones and expectations, ensuring the entire team was on the same page about the schedule and completion date. Close collaboration between Nabholz, the design team, and the owner ensured that the project was delivered on time, within budget, and provided the best quality and value to the client.

The scope included:

  • New 156,000 square foot facility
